There's a great program in Alberta called Family Support for Children with Disabilities (FSCD) which can help fund speech therapy for children, as well as physiotherapy, occupational therapy and psychologist or behavioural support. Families of children who have received a medical diagnosis such as Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Global Developmental Delay (GDD), Childhood Apraxia of Speech (CAS), Attention-Deficit/Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) and many more, can apply for funding to help them acquire a team of therapists to support them on their child's developmental journey. Goals through the FSCD program focus on home based needs and parent's learning of strategies at home to help support their child. There are different levels of funding available to families, and many families qualify for some respite to start. Many children with a diagnosis will require multiple years of speech therapy and can benefit from applying to the FSCD program to help access support.
